Design Guide - August 2023 - Harvest Gatherings Box

It’s no secret- Fall is my favorite season! I love the colorful leaves, campfire smells, pumpkin patch visits, apple harvest festivals and cool crisp autumn air. This month’s box embodies all of that and more with the most gorgeous carved pumpkins I’ve ever seen, coordinating beaded candle holders to bring some of that firelight charm to your home and a metal sign that truly expresses the sentiment of the season. And, let's not forget the pretty black farmhouse bead garland that's just the icing on the cake (or should I say the whipped cream on the pumpkin pie).

This year I decided to stick with pretty neutrals packed with detail. The neutral color palette makes it a breeze to add them into your existing décor regardless of which beautiful fall color your heart's drawn to while the carved details (leaves and acorns on the pumpkins, beaded design on the candle holders) and the use of many different materials (wood, metal, resin, jute) add enough texture to keep your space interesting.

Perhaps the biggest bonus in this box is that many of the pieces can be used year-round. Even the pumpkins can grace your space from early fall through Halloween and all the way to Thanksgiving. This box has me eager to pull out all of my fall decorations and start cozying up my home for the season. I had so much fun staging these pieces for you so let's take a look at a few ideas to get you started.

Y'all know I love a good shelf makeover and the pumpkins in this month's box make it a snap. If you're designing multiple shelves or a large cabinet, these pumpkins are a great way to add a coordinating color and design scheme to your space while also keeping it from looking too symmetrical. Add one to each shelf on opposite sides of each other to keep your eye traveling through the display as it subconsciously links similar objects together (see photo above). Achieve the same thing by adding the coordinating carved candle holders (available in our shop) to the side of one shelf and all three pumpkins to the other (see picture below).

I'm also mildly obsessed with how pretty the black metal Thankful sign looks in front of the pumpkins (see photo below). It's such a pretty contrast to the pumpkins, but its wood base matches the carved detailing on the pumpkins so well that its also the perfect compliment. I plan to keep this sign out year round and have a spot in front of a set of chippy white corbels picked out for it.

I also had so much fun pairing these pieces with the items in last month's Farmhouse Favorites box. The black tray and matte white vases work seemlessly with the Harvest Gatherings box. Any of the designs below would work well on a console table, side board or buffet. Just add candles and greenery that compliment your color scheme.

And, what would a design guide be without a good centerpiece. I fell pretty smitten with the one below. This centerpiece adds some texture and color with our fabric pumpkins (available in our shop) and includes a new use for the beaded candle holders as risers for the carved pumpkins (see second picture below).

And there you have it, just a few ideas showcasing the many ways this box can be used. We can't wait to see how you use all of these pieces to turn your home into a harvest gathering space. Tag us on Facebook or send us an email or message to share your creativity. And, as always, if you have any questions or need some design advice feel free to reach out. Happy fall and even more importantly, happy decorating!
